Vision or Core? Choosing a DC charger range

This is a test article; real content will replace it. "Vision or Core?" comes up in almost every enquiry. The answer rarely hinges on power - both ranges have 2× CCS2 connectors and the same operating logic. What decides is the type of site and what the charger has to do there besides charging.

Vision: the widest power range

Vision is the premium build without a large display and covers 60 to 400 kW. It is the only range that reaches the highest outputs, which makes it the choice for motorway and transit sites where every minute of dwell time counts.

Where the charger also has to carry site branding or advertising, there is the Vision Pro variant with a 23.8″ advertising display and a 60 to 240 kW range.

Core: for a fast rollout

Core is the accessible range, 80 to 240 kW, with a smaller display. It targets the case where many sites go up in a short time and price-performance decides: retail car parks, company premises, hotels, municipalities.

Three questions that settle it

  1. Do you need more than 240 kW? Then Vision - no other DC range goes there.
  2. Should the display earn money, or just inform? Advertising space is Vision Pro.
  3. Is the number of sites per year your main constraint? Then Core.
The fastest charger is not always the best one. What matters is how long the car is parked there anyway.

On sites with long dwell times - hotels, offices, parking garages - it often pays to build more charging points at a lower output rather than one machine at maximum. The budget then goes into the number of points, not into peak power the car will not use.
